EHC/U16 Championship
EHC or Eastern High School Championships
The TD Bank Eastern High School Championships is the premier event for high school and prep school racers in New England and New York. Competition between states is highly competitive and media attention is significant. The goal of the EHSC is to provide the highest quality competition for high school-aged athletes. Athletes qualify for the EHS Championships through state qualifying races (ME, NH, VT, MA, and NY). Up to 24 boys and 24 girls are selected for each state's teams.

Team Selection and Qualifying procedure: A junior ski racer can qualify for the EHSC race by competing in 2 of the scheduled JNQ races this winter (and earn an athlete a JNQ point total under 450 points). Additionally, high school skiers at the New York State Public High School State Championship Meet will receive an invitation to represent NY high schools at the Eastern High School Championship as well as the top 3 junior finishers at the Empire State Games. The team will be filled when 24 boys/24 girls commit to the trip. These athletes will then have to signup on skireg before the registration deadline. The final balance for the trip will be due ten days before the trip.
Qualified Athletes should verify their point total here: (points available soon) and then register at this skireg link (available soon)
*If more athletes sign up than the 24/24 available roster spots the team will be determined by: first the JNQ points totals from the qualifying races, followed by the results from the State Meet and finally the results from ESG’s. Athletes who sign-up before the State Meet, but fail to be named to the team in this unlikely situation, will be given a full refund and encouraged to qualify next season.
The final cost for the trip will be determined by the team size.
EASEF financial grants are available for 1 boy and 1 girl to participate at EHSC this winter.
**If roster spots remain open right before the trip, it is up to the discretion of the trip organizers how and if these roster spots will be filled.
U16 Championships
The TD Bank U16 Championships has a long history of being one of the most exciting winter sporting events for youths anywhere. What began modestly in 1992 has grown into one of the highlights of the season for junior athletes. The four New England states and New York each qualify their fastest twenty 14-15 year old boys and girls. Four races ensue over 2 1/2 days. Seeded wave starts ensure match racing at its finest. This event will typically see invited entries from Intermountain Division (Idaho and Utah) and Canada who are scored head-to-head with New England athletes adding to the weekend of excitement for all participants.

As you may have heard from Jason Hettenbaugh I will be the trip leader for Team NY at this year's U16 Eastern Championships. This year the event is “home” at Gore Mountain! We’d love to have a strong group of athletes attend the event and represent New York. Please forward this email to any of your athletes who may be interested in attending the event.
A ski racer who is a U16 (14-15 years old) can qualify for the U16 Eastern Championships by competing in 1 of the scheduled JNQ races and earn a JNQ point total under 450 points. Additionally, any U16 athlete who qualifies for the New York State Public High School Championships Meet also meet the qualification standard for attending the event. The team will be filled once 24 girls and 24 boys commit to the trip. Points list can be found here.
Registration will open tonight, February 12th at 5pm and will close February 23rd at 5pm. Please register as soon as you can! The trip cost is $200, which covers the $140 race registration fee as well as race wax for the weekend and coaching support. Please be aware that all participants must arrange their own travel, lodging and food for the weekend! There is a Saturday night banquet dinner for all athletes included in their registration fee.
